Charles James Organs was founded by lain Harvey in 2004 after ten years with a Liverpool organ building firm, where he trained, after leaving his education. Whilst working in Liverpool, Iain looked after many fine instruments including the Cathedral organs of Chester, Coventry and Liverpool Metropolitan.

The company mainly deals with the tuning and maintenance of instruments but is able to carry out work of a larger nature too and we treat each instrument, large or small with the same respect. Charles James Organs is able to provide a complete organ building service including tonal alterations and voicing of new and original pipework.

Since 2004 the firm has been engaged to work with some interesting instruments throughout the United Kingdom and Éire.

The work we have been involved with has been varied and includes the four manual organ in one of the medieval city churches of Leicester, which was revived after ten years of being silent with ongoing work of renewal and repair, the Song School organ of Chester Cathedral, a Romantic instrument in Ponders End, Enfield and the relocation of an antique Irish chamber organ for a private residence.
