Charles James Organs provides a complete organ building service. The build quality of each instrument is of the highest standards, employing the best components and materials. Impressive workmanship of all parts of the instrument is coupled with a fresh and clear style of voicing, creating a high quality musical instrument.

The company also undertakes restoration and rebuild projects, tonal alterations and voicing of new and original pipework, wiring work and tuning and maintenance, working always to the same high standards.

Charles James Organs was founded by Iain Harvey in 2004, after ten years with a Liverpool organ building firm where he trained. Whilst working in Liverpool, Iain looked after many fine instruments including the Cathedral organs of Chester, Coventry and Liverpool Metropolitan. He is also an accomplished organist.

Charles James Organs has revived and maintains the four manual organ in one of the medieval city churches of Leicester, maintains the Song School organ of Chester Cathedral and has built a new organ for the civic church of
St Paul’s in Bedford utilising most of the original pipework. In addition, Charles James Organs have no less than fifty instruments in their care, including the organ at Brasenose College, Oxford.
